Are you the type of person who likes to have a few books lined up so that once you're finished with one, you can swiftly and easily pick up the next? Or would those books in-waiting drive you crazy, impatiently sitting there wondering how long it will take you to finish what you're reading?
I like having a few lined up. I love knowing there's another great suggested book sitting quietly on my night table or on a nearby shelf ready to be devoured. In fact, with today's technology, I am able to "read" three books at once!
There's the real deal, the paper and ink kind that I keep next to my bed. Then there's the e-book-book that I transport with me from place to place out of sheer convenience (lighter and more accessible when traveling around). Then, the most intriguing to me of late - the audiobook!
I mentioned this method of reading in an earlier blog, but feel that I must again tout the benefits: I can listen while walking the dog, turning a mundane task into an enriching one. I can read while running, cooking, doing laundry. It's fantastic. Too bad I couldn't do this when my kids were babies, while they were napping and I was too tired to read, listening would have been a welcomed alternative.
Yesterday, my daughter and I visited the library. I suggested she take out a couple of books by an author her teacher had recommended. She was reluctant. Although she wanted to try the books, she is in the middle of one that she likes a lot. This is what she said,
"If we take out those books, you have to hide them until I'm done with this one. I don't want to be tempted to read another book until I am finished!"

i see your point, but i appreciate the different methods of reading books. especially on the walks and exercise. can't carry around a hardcover while running! ha...
but seriously, it's also a good mind exercise for me. i focus in on each book and its plot and characters while reading so that i can keep them all straight.
funny how it's not difficult to do that...
HELP.
